Whoo I colored it! I thought it should sorta have a shadowy theme for a background. :iconscarthinkingplz:

Well if you know me then you know my favorite "how Scar got his scar theory" is that it came from Mufasa; that it happened when they were adolescents or "teenagers". But just for fun I thought I'd come up with an alternative theory on what could have happened. They're much younger here; Ahadi is also "darker" in this version. You don't like it, that's cool. It's just a random theory so be nice. :p

"He knows better than this." Ahadi grumbled out loud, masking his concern with anger as he paced back and forth. The young prince Mufasa hadn't returned to Pride Rock for dinner and it was well after dark now. Ahadi had taught him that nightfall was a dangerous time in the savannah and that he should never be alone after the sun went down. Until this night Mufasa had always obeyed and respected his father's law.

"I can't find Taka either." Uru exclaimed as she padded up to her mate's side.

The king's eyes narrowed, "If he has put Mufasa in danger...."

Uru shot him a quick glare but brushed off his comment for the time being, "I'll send out a search party, we'll find them." she tried to mantain her composure as she spoke but the stress was clearly showing in her face.

The king nodded to her before turning to walk away.

"Where are you going?" Uru asked.

"To find my son." Ahadi muttered without looking back. The queen stared after him, it was no mistake that he said 'son' and not 'sons'.

Mufasa had set out earlier in the evening to find his younger brother. He was growing ever curious and concerned about where he always disappeared to. He'd found him far from Pride Rock, star gazing. When he had warned him that it was dangerous to be out alone at night Taka had only shrugged him off. When he demanded that he come home with him the smaller cub simply walked away. Stubborn, Mufasa followed him into the darkness; further and further from home until they had both become utterly lost.

"Taka!" Mufasa called, racing through the dark after his brother. "Wait!" he slowed as he caught up to the smaller cub, his eyes reflecting in the darkness. "You're going the wrong way!"

"What makes you so sure?" Taka flicked an ear back in annoyance.

"Dad has shown me the entire kingdom," Mufasa started, unable to see the anger in his brother's eyes, "and I don't recognize any of this. I don't even think we're in the PrideLands anymore!" he said nervously.

"Are you scared?" Taka flashed a grin, amused at the mere thought of the mighty Mufasa cowering in fear.

"No of course not!" Mufasa puffed up his chest, "But we're going to be in so much trouble if we don't get home soon. We need to stay put. That's the number one rule when you're lost, stay put so you can be found-"

"-or eaten." Taka finished the sentence as Mufasa glared on.

"We just need to find a safe place, somewhere high up where we can't be seen. Anyway I'm sure dad is on his way!" Mufasa said as he scanned the surroundings.

"I'm sure he isn't..." Taka muttered. He'd been out on his own many times before, granted never this far from home but never once had dear father come searching for him. He stared at Mufasa for a minute, "...not for me anyway." he added under his breath.

Suddenly Mufasa pricked his ears forward. "Taka, someone is out there." The smaller cub peered out from behind his brother as a dark shadow moved in the distance.

Mufasa squinted in the darkness, making out the faint outline of a large male lion. "Dad?" he hesitated and then shouted louder, "Dad! We're over here!"

Taka could have smacked him. "You idiot!"

Mufasa spun around quickly, giving his brother a nasty look "Hey watch what you call your future king!" he scoffed and marched forward expecting to see his father emerge from the darkness.

"You should think before you speak..." Taka growled after him. He narrowed his eyes and backed away, whether the lion was their father or not he didn't want to be seen.

Mufasa kept walking with ever growing confidence, but as he drew closer to the lion it became obvious that he'd made a horrible mistake. Two piercing golden eyes stared at him from the darkness; a deep growl rumbled from the beast's chest. This wasn't his father. It was a rogue lion; to him Mufasa was nothing more than a cub...a cub to get rid of so he could claim the pride for himself. Their eyes met for an instant before the rogue lunged forward in a burst of fury; the young prince scrambled away as fast as his legs could carry him.

"HELP!"

Taka shot up from his hiding place as Mufasa's voice rang out in the night. He grit his teeth together with frustration, no one ever listened to him. He cautiously stepped out then shrunk into the tall grass, slowly moving forward until he saw his brother racing towards him.

"Run! RUN!" Mufasa cried, practically trampling the smaller cub.

Taka turned his head just in time to see a large male bolting towards them. His stomach did a flip; claws tore at the earth as he raced after Mufasa. He would have had a head start if he hadn't walked back in response to his brother's cry for help. Now he struggled to keep up, as always.

"Mufasa, wait up!" the dark cub cried, quietly cursing his lack of physical strength. He could feel the ground tremble beneath him as the rogue was catching up. In his panic he tripped on a rock, rolling overtop himself.

Mufasa skid to a stop and looked back, "Taka, get up! Hurry!" he cried, hesitating on what to do.

Taka pulled himself up just in time to see a massive paw coming down upon him. It all happened in an instant; the world went white as the sheer power of the impact nearly knocked the cub out. He was so small that the lion's claws practically missed him, all but one - which tore deepy across his left eye. His ears were ringing and for a few minutes he could neither hear nor see. He would miss what happened next.

"Leave my brother alone!" Mufasa roared in a squeaky voice as he charged back, much to the amusement of the rogue. But as the lion lifted his gaze his smile faded. Another figure was quickly racing towards them; this lion's roar was nothing to laugh about.

"GET AWAY FROM MY SON!" Ahadi had fire in his eyes as he hurled himself at the rogue.

Mufasa's jaw dropped and he shrunk down as his father leaped right over them to get at the stranger. Taka opened one eye slowly, the other scrunched shut with pain. The world was slowly coming back into focus. Mufasa had his paws draped around him in a hug; the small cub followed his brother's wide eyed gaze to the fight happening only a few feet away from them.

To the cubs it seemed to last forever, but for Ahadi and the rogue it was over in minutes. Ahadi was a very large, powerful lion and the fact that he was enraged only added to his strength. The rogue was quick to retreat; Ahadi recieved only a few minor scratches.

In the flurry of all that had happened no one had even noticed the injury to Taka, but some of the blood from his wound had stained Mufasa's paws as he'd held onto his brother during the fight. The golden cub raced forward to his father.

"Dad! Are you okay?" he asked.

"Mufasa, what have I told you..." Ahadi frowned at his son with disappoinment, causing the prince to flatten his ears in shame.

"I know, I'm sorry dad...but Taka, I...I had to find him and we got lost and..." Mufasa trailed off.

Ahadi growled softly at that, so it was Taka's fault. The anger quickly faded from his face when he noticed the blood on Mufasa's paws.

"Mufasa...you're hurt!" he said with panic, quickly looking over his son for the source of the wound.

Mufasa shook his head, "No I'm fine, I-" he gasped a little as he looked down at his paws, "But I'm not..." his voice trailed off; slowly he turned back to his brother, who still lay in the grass where Mufasa left him. "It's Taka!" he ran back to his brother's side, nudging him, "Dad, he's hurt!"

Ahadi walked slowly over to his youngest son, staring down at him with a stonecold expression. He took one forepaw and lifted the small cub's head just enough to see the damage done. "You'll be alright, but that's going to leave a scar." the king spoke in a monotone. He moved his paw away, "Let it be a lesson to you. If you EVER put Mufasa in danger again..." he muttered, disgust in his voice.

Taka flinched at his father's touch, but the utter disregard hurt more than the gash across his face. "I'm sorry," he whispered in a ragged voice. He hadn't asked Mufasa to come looking for him, he had never wanted to be found. But his brother following him had also saved him, because Mufasa was the only reason Ahadi had come to the rescue.

Ahadi ignored the apology, "Get up then, you can walk. Show some strength for once." He turned to Mufasa, "Let's go home."

Mufasa had no words for what he'd just witnessed; he sat in silence for a minute as his father turned to walk away. He felt a pang of guilt and tried to help his brother to his feet. But his act of kindness was only met with anger.

"Get away from me," Taka growled, still unable to open his left eye.

"What did I do?" Mufasa gawked.

"You were born." the dark cub muttered. That Mufasa hadn't even tried to stand up for him; had just let him take the blame had only added insult to injury.

Even the Ahadi in my headcanon didn't take "tough love" this far. Does he really not care about Taka at all? Is it really only Mufasa who has his love?
