Hyena's Hero (Rough Sketch)

This is not done yet, the picture or the story. I have an appointment today so I most likely won't get another chance to work on this until late tonight or tomorrow, but anyway I thought I'd share the sketch (since I'm sorta proud of it) and what I have of the chapter so far. This would take place after the chapter "A Hyena in the Pridelands" as seen here: [link] but before "Apology not Accepted" as seen here: [link] Taka hasn't yet changed his name here (he might have been thinking it, but Mufasa had to be the first to hear it) Anyways this drabble is just to explain what's happening in the picture. When I have it all done I'll change the description here and post the full story on the colored picture.

PS: Ew Ed. Who knows where that tongue has been.

Ed had tried to explain what happened to his two companions in his own special way, pointing frantically at his torn ears while jumping about, flailing his paws and making various noises. Shenzi and Banzai found it quite hilarious.

"Wait, wait, wait...were the fleas really that hungry!?" Banzai snorted a laugh and Shenzi was quick to join in. Ed circled around and stood with a confused look.

"Oh I'm sure he just ticked off someone in the clan, again" Shenzi huffed as she caught her breath. The hyenas got into fights all the time. Something like this wasn't too surprising, but somehow the way Ed acted made it seem like it was.

"...or someone in the pride." came a feline voice.

The trio shuddered in together for an instant. Shenzi squinted and relaxed as she came to recognize the figure standing in the shadows, "What?"

"The fool followed me into the Pridelands and...met one the family." the lion muttered.

"The king!?" Banzai gasped, wondering how Ed escaped with such a minor injury.

"The future king." Taka said with distaste in his mouth. He turned to look at them now and all three were taken aback at the nasty gash across his eye.

Ed scrambled to the small lion, leaping up to lick the left side of his face. He'd make it better! Taka turned his head in disgust at the attempted slobbery hyena kisses.

"Why that lousy Mufasa!" Shenzi curled her lip up.

"They even turn on their own kind! Man I hate those lions! Tyrants! Every last one of 'em!" Banzai yelled, then stuttered over his words "I mean uh, that is I mean...not you of course Taka!" he gave a grin, "You're more like, like...part of the clan!"

Taka didn't look amused. "What an honor." his voice dripped with sarcasm.

"And you saved Ed." Shenzi said with more of a serious tone, looking him in the eye. She never thought she'd see the day when she had any sort of respect for a lion.

Taka seemed to shrug, he hadn't done much. Mufasa could have torn the hyena to shreds if he really wanted to and there would have been little he could have done to prevent it, physically speaking. But the fact that he was there for Ed to hide behind was both a blessing and a curse.

"And now Mufasa knows about you,...about us" he added with narrowed eyes.
