Dog Rescue Adventure Time

I swear, every time I go out of the house when I wasn't planning to go out of the house something happens that proves to me the universe wanted it that way.

I was out with Wahya when I saw another loose dog running through the neighborhood. She ran right across the street and into someone's yard where they were having a party. At first I thought maybe she was theirs but it became very obvious she wasn't when they started screaming and chasing her away. So I ran around to the street in front of their house and managed to catch her, problem is I only had one leash (note to self: just start packing an extra) I asked the people that had just chased her off their yard if they might know who she belongs to. They had no clue, and honestly they didn't seem all too concerned about her. This dog had on a choke collar (ugh, I hate those) and two rabies tags but no name tag or form of ID. To make matters worse today is Sunday so we couldn't call the local shelter to see if they could find her owner from the tag numbers (we're gonna do that first thing tomorrow)

For a while there I was walking two big dogs with one leash (wasn't easy let me tell ya, but I wasn't about to leave her there) I had to take Wahya home first, then just like with Tank (another dog I recently rescued and reunited with his owner) searched all around the neighborhood asking anyone and everyone if they knew who she might belong to. No one had ever seen her before. We had nothing. We also couldn't keep her at our house since we didn't know how she might do with cats or small dogs and have no "safe room" where we could keep just her for the night. Thankfully we know an AWESOME animal rescuer, and she agreed to house her until we can find her owner.

Since she has rabies tags we SHOULD be able to track her owner once we contact the shelter, but I get the feeling she's been on the run for a while now. The poor girl is pretty thin (about ten pounds underweight it looks like) She scarfed the food she was given at my friend's house. She is such a SWEET dog, she wanted to sit in my lap half the time. I know someone has to be missing her and we're gonna try our hardest to get her back home.

This adventure is just getting started.
